lots of lettuce
Hurray, a day without rain! I bicycled through a lot of farmland today. There was lettuce, strawberries and many other green things that I didn't take time to recognize. I suspect this picture isn't even showing lettuce. In some fields broccoli was grown. I only know this because I kept finding it on the road. Mmm, fresh broccoli.

swinging bridge is closed
I went out of my way to visit this pedestrian bridge in Arroyo Grande, CA, and it was closed.

giant clam
Down the road from the closed swinging bridge is the Pismo Beach Giant Clam. I read that this clam is continuously re-painted to show festive murals and such. As you can see, it is now white. Most boring clam ever.

IN-N-OUT
Not exactly scenic, but IN-N-OUT BURGER is a California staple. Also, notice that all menus here have calories listed.

Pismo Beach
This is a look back at Pismo Beach from along Highway 1. I met a number of other cyclists today riding up and down that highway. Many look like they were going a long distance, but only one was as loaded down as me. He had homemade panniers made from 5-gallon buckets. I see that often.

I don't know either
You are looking at a cement bear wearing a lei on a pedestal over tidal flats in front of some small mountains along South Bay Boulevard in Los Osos, California.

sea otter
I needed a break so I stopped at a marina near Morro Bay. I saw somebody taking a picture of a floating log. They must have thought it was something else. As I ate some crackers I watched the log, wondering why it never drifted toward the shore. Then a group of school kids came by and made a big deal over the log. It turns out it wasn't a log.
