2015-09-18 tl;dr: I biked straight west all day passing through nary a town, but plenty of windmills. I didn't bike through a single town today (except Woolstock, but I doubt that counts, and I guess I barely grazed the north end of Fort Dodge). I just continued continuously west except for a brief detour around the Des Moines River.Today was a miserable day. It never did get that warm, and it rained much of the day. One thing is for sure, thanks to all of the unused water hydrants I am getting my water from, I am definitely getting enough iron and other minerals. I finally saw a pheasant. In addition to corn, soybeans and hogs, Iowa has windmills. Miles and miles of windmills. I ended up camping near them. One whistled away all night while another thrumbed like a jet engine. I guess people who complain about noise pollution are not wrong. |
