2015-11-09 tl;dr: I visited the Tulum ruins, and then biked to Coba and visited the Coba ruins. And I saw an ugly chicken. The ticket booth to the Tulum Archeological Site opened at 8:00 AM (or so). Look, pictures!One thing about Mexico is that for any attraction there are almost as many workers as guests. Some jobs are interesting (like the guides). Some are normal (like the men sweeping and grooming trails). Some would be downright boring (like the guys who stand at a trail branch and point people one way). I left Tulum with too much water and biked to Coba. I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to find water along the way. It turns out there are little towns every ten kilometers or so, and you can buy bottled water at any of a dozen places in each town. Perhaps this will not be the case when I leave the tourist areas. I had made a reservation for the Sac-Be Hotel in Coba. When will I learn? The reservation disappeared. It's just as well, because I had made the reservation for two days hoping to get work done, but the hotel wifi doesn't work. My cell phone has zero signal in my room. So I decided that I'd continue being lazy as far as my job was concerned and hiked over to the Coba ruins. The jungle here is farther from the coast, and once in the shade it is downright pleasant. Or I'm finally acclimating. Ground temperature is about 24 degrees C, here, I think. This is good, because this hotel has no hot water. Look, too many pictures! |
