2015-10-18 tl;dr: After a critter-filled night I battled winds south into Casper, Wyoming. Maybe I should have set up a tent. At some point a big critter ran past my head causing me to bolt straight awake and up and ready to fight. Then I started imagining how mountain lions might live in these rocks. Just as I was about to sleep again a mouse jumped on my face. I was ripped from sleep later as some bird landed in the tree above me and proceeded to mimic a car alarm. I watched the sky for a bit after that, noting shooting stars and occasional flashes of light as things exploded in orbit. And it seems a mouse ate part of my summer sausage. I left my campsite before it was too dark to avoid all the cactus, and ended up with a thorn through my rear tire. Fortunately, both my tires are slimed, and eventually pumping the tire caused it to hold even though I didn't patch it. Now both tires are holding air only by the grace of slime. I couldn't make up my mind which sunrise picture I liked best, so have two! It's a short day. The wind shifted overnight. Boy did it shift. I had thirty miles to cover to get to Casper, Wyoming. I earned those miles. |
