2015-11-18 tl;dr: Today was hot. And a little boring. I walked all over Ciudad del Carmen trying to find some breakfast. Mexicans don't seem to appreciate breakfast. Cereal bars it is.Today was hot and humid. Eventually I had to take a break in some grass where I got bitten by ants. The day was also pretty boring. I'm still kicking myself for not photographing the guys selling giant shrimp in the street. After crossing Rio Usumacinta (which might be an actual river), I backtracked into a small town (with no name on the map) where I immediately punctured my tire. After buying water, I fixed the tire in a shady area while being watched and helped by an older man and a boy. I felt bad for distracting them from fixing nets, but I suspect I offered more entertainment than they'd seen in a while. This area has more people in it, and it's stupid hot and humid, and most of the land seems to be covered in water, so I found a hotel in Frontera. Frontera also has a Burger King. Burger King does have combos. Unfortunately, the cashier was intent on asking me all the peripheral questions. Somehow I ended up with a large size, and the Whopper came with cheese without the extra markup. I drank soda fountain Pepsi. I really hope this water is filtered. |
