2009-02-16 Today was kind of boring. Thus the boring pictures. It never got too warm, but the sun was shining most of the day. I also seemed to spend a lot of time fighting a slight wind which was intent on constantly facing me. At one point a small pack of dogs gave chase. Normally I ignore dogs or make fun of them, but these appeared to have some pit bull in them (in this area I'd be hard-pressed to assume any dog was purebred) and were really focused on catching me. So I peddled for all I was worth and got away. I set up camp in Francis Marion National Forest not too far from Huger (or, as the locals say, Huggie). I'm fairly close to the road but in the middle of absolutely nowhere, so I was a little concerned when a truck pulled up 100 yards away and started honking its horn. I quickly realized that the hounds that I had been listening to with growing hostility belonged to this person. I was outside my hammock at the time adjusting a rope. The hammock is noisy, so all I could do was sit on the ground and wait for the hounds to be gathered up. Eventually the truck moved on, but in the distance I can still hear the honking sounds of hound gathering: "Whooeee yaa ha ha ha ha c'mon gul!"
