Cramping my style
2009-04-08 Still in Cedar Key >

2009-04-04

My dad recently commented that all of this work is cramping my style. Yep, I am still in Cedar Key. And it looks like I will be here for the next few days at least. It isn't so bad.

My room has a kitchen, so for the first time in more than a month I am cooking. The local market doesn't carry ramen, so I am forced to boil spaghetti with my sliced hot dogs.

Today I took a tour of the Suwannee River. We saw many birds, alligators and turtles. There were some white pelicans on a beach at a distance. Apparently, White Pelicans are preferred over Brown Pelicans which are also referred to as "ghetto" pelicans. Just reporting, folks.

We didn't see a "skunk ape", which probably disappointed at least one of the passengers. Captain Rob didn't believe in them, though he seemed open-minded enough. He explained that he only put stock in stories that had old-timers shooting and then eating things, and he'd never heard of anybody eating a skunk ape.

I wore my freak shoes. Every passenger found opportunity to comment.

Last night I cruised around the island on my bike. Well, you can't actually go "around" the island. Even so, it doesn't take very long to hit all of the main roads. I saw that somebody snuck a horse onto the island. Crazy people everywhere.

Over a week later the fire ant bites have finally stopped itching, but the ugly marks have yet to heal.
