2009-05-16 The trip is over. I'm back in Wisconsin. It turns out I was gone for ninety-eight days. I saw swamps and forests and grasslands and mountains and deserts and oceans. There were interesting critters and even more interesting people. I froze. I sweated. I got the worse tan lines ever. Though work forced me off the road, it won't stop me from planning my next trip. I have one or two smaller trips I want to do this year. Maybe in another year or two I can do another big trip. Until then I can at least wear consistently clean underwear. And I think those fire ant bite marks are finally gone. Or they are just hiding among the other scratches and cuts.
