2009-04-12 Tallahassee was kind of a cool looking city with all of its hills and oaks and moss. Tallahassee also offered something else that was lacking throughout much of Florida: back roads. I managed to spend most of today not on highways. Not only are back roads more scenic and less congested, but they also aren't as hot; four-lane highways seem to radiate a lot of heat.I left Florida behind. And Georgia. Again. This area sure received a lot of rain lately, as evidenced by the mosquitoes, flooded fields, washed out roads and floating cars. I can tell I'm no longer in the tourist-saturated lands of Florida because of all the stares and double-takes. At one point I came across a goat stuck in a fence because of its horns. I freed the little guy and it ran and ran until it was out of sight. I didn't think goats could run like that. Most of today's route consisted of hills. I am amazed at how sore I am. Looks like I got a little spoiled lately. I am now in Dotham, Alabama where I will stay for a few days to work. |
