2009-03-29 If all of my bicycle experiences in Florida could be as pleasant as the Withlacoochee Trail, I probably wouldn't be slowly building up a resentment toward the state. The paved trail is a converted railroad, so it is mostly flat and skirts around towns. Not having to worry about who is going to try to run me over for four hours was quite a break. And the trail is infested with squirrels--grey squirrels, but much smaller than those up north. The rest of the day was boring and spent on highways. I'm back in pine country. I stopped a little early because of the wind and because I wasn't sure if I could even get a room tonight at my goal of Cedar Key. Fire ant bites itch worse the third day.
